Skating Party

This morning, the four of us headed out to my niece's 5th birthday party. It was at Jellybeans skating center. It was the first time either one of the kids had been to a skating rink. They both had fun, but in very different ways. As you can see, Layton was a real trooper out on the rink. He skated right along with mommy or daddy.

It's Sarah Meredith's turn to skate! Sarah had been talking about this party for weeks now and was so set on skating with the big kids. I anticipated things would go a little differently once we were there. She tends to chicken out in such situations. Daddy did convince her to at least try the skates on.

All seems good so far!

This is the point she realized that skating was going to be harder than it looks. Chad said she made it half way around the rink, but was crying the whole time.

So Sarah wasn't a pro at roller skating, but she sure can throw back some pizza.

At this point, Layton has left the table to go play video games. Sarah happily indulges on some chocolate cake!
