I scream, you scream ...

I know most people don't think too much of their kids eating ice cream. However, since mine rarely get it, I think it's so funny to watch them try and eat it gracefully.

I guess melted ice cream is also good sensory play!

When all else fails, just use your hands!

Denied Again :(

I'm so bummed. We just got word that our insurance company denied coverage for Layton's speech therapy and OT (again). I can't say I'm surprised because I think we have the worst plan around. I'm disappointed because Layton has LOVED going so far. He has been attending Raleigh Therapy Services and it's a really neat place. Layton runs up to the building once we get out of the car. It's so nice to see him excited about therapy! I plan on appealing the decision, but I don't think that's going to get us too far.

A rare and expensive treat

Layton very rarely gets to eat ice cream. I have found only one kind of ice cream that adheres to his special diet. One problem though, it is soooooo expensive. I will only buy it if it's on sale or I have a coupon. I sure hate to pay the price for it, but to see the look on Layton's face as I pull it out of the freezer is worth every penny!

Too Tired

This is so funny to me. Layton and I were in the middle of doing his stretching exercises. Then all of a sudden he fell asleep. He didn't even change positions. As you can see, he's still in his stretching pose.

Happy Girl

Sarah Meredith still loves going to preschool! I picked her up from school today. She turned to me and said, "Mommy, I had fun!"

Saturday with Aunt Megan

Even though you can't see Aunt Megan in any of these pictures, she spent most of the day with us and she took these pictures of the kids. Sarah Meredith came grocery shopping with us and then we stopped by Bruegger's Bagels. Sarah had her own sippy cup with her, but she decided to steal mommy's drink. I guess straws are just more fun! Layton loves swinging on our new tire swing. He doesn't
usually lay on top of someone though. I suppose it's a good way for him to swing when he's feeling sleepy.

Rare Moment

Layton and I were out in the yard this morning and I suddenly realized that this was the first time in about three weeks that Layton didn't have a case of "bed head". I don't know what it is about his hair lately, but it always seems to be sticking up. I'm sure strangers out in public don't think we take care of our child. When I saw that he was having a "good hair day", I thought I better capture the moment.

Sweet Moments

The other night I tried to capture some sweet moments of the children. These aren't the best photos because the kids moved before I could snap the picture that I wanted. I'll try to explain what was going on. The picture on the left is of the kids giving each other a "big hug". Layton chases Sarah around the room with his arms open wide saying "Big hug". He finally caught her and they each gave the other a big hug. The other picture was Sarah giving Layton a kiss on the cheek after he fell asleep on the ottoman. You can pretty much do what you want with Layton when he's asleep. He is a very deep sleeper. Aside from Mommy and Daddy, Layton and Sarah are each others best friend! It's been so nice to see them become so close. Sarah has always thought the world of her big brother. We are so proud of Layton for inviting Sarah into "his world". Sometime soon I'll try and get a picture of them playing "wrestle mania" on the trampoline. It's cute to see them rolling around on the trampoline, but Chad or I always have to referee. Layton is nearly twice the size of Sarah. He likes to tackle her, pull her to the ground and roll her over to the other side of the trampoline. Sarah enjoys the play, but seems a little frightened at times.

Going to preschool

Today was Sarah Meredith's second day of the Mother's Morning Out preschool she attends. She really loves going and it gives me some much needed time to work with Layton alone. Each time I pick her up from school, she tells me who she played with that day and who got hurt. She used to be more concerned with what snacks the other kids brought to school. I think this was because their goldfish crackers looked more appealing than her gluten free snacks. A quick trip to the Earthfare grocery store for some chocolate bunny cookies took care of that problem! We pack everything into her red lunch box. She is very attached to her lunch box and won't let mommy hold it once there is food inside.

Used Car Lot

Anyone who knows Layton, knows he loves his Matchbox cars. He really loves to line them all up. He is very particular about how they are arranged. I usually see them arranged by color, but that doesn't appear to be the case this time. Bonus points to anyone who can figure out this arrangement. One sure way to make Layton mad is to mess up his arrangement. Sarah Meredith does this often just to get under his skin.
